Yangju City Supports Electric Vehicle Purchases to Reduce Fine Dust

[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province, is promoting an electric vehicle purchase support project to reduce fine dust and expand the distribution of eco-friendly vehicles.

According to the city on the 4th, with a total project budget of 5.4 billion KRW, support will be provided differentially depending on the vehicle type, up to ▲13 million KRW for electric passenger cars ▲6.5 million KRW for electric ultra-small cars ▲30 million KRW for electric cargo vehicles.

Eligibility for support includes citizens, corporations, public institutions, and local public enterprises aged 18 or older who have been registered residents of Yangju for at least one month for passenger cars and three months for cargo vehicles as of the application date. Subsidies obtained through fraudulent methods such as false residence registration will be reclaimed.

The supported vehicles include a total of 285 units: 144 electric passenger cars (including ultra-small cars) and 141 electric cargo vehicles.

In particular, 15 electric passenger and ultra-small cars and 14 electric cargo vehicles will be preferentially supplied to vulnerable groups, families with multiple children, and first-time buyers.

For households below the lower-income bracket, an additional 10% of the national subsidy amount will be provided for electric passenger cars, and an additional 2 million KRW of national subsidy will be provided for electric taxis.

However, recipients of basic pensions, disability pensions, and other benefits may be excluded from eligibility depending on the vehicle price when purchasing an electric vehicle.

Electric vehicle purchasers who receive subsidies are required to operate the vehicle for two years, and if the vehicle is scrapped during the mandatory operation period, prior approval from the city must be obtained.
