Cheongam University Draws Attention with Enrollment of 3 Newly Admitted Marriage Immigrants

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Cheongam University (President Seo Hyung-won) announced on the 4th that among the new students, marriage immigrants from Vietnam and China enrolled as foreigners by obtaining the Korean Language Proficiency Test (TOPIK) qualification after receiving Korean language education at the Gwangyang City Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center.

The students entering the Department of Social Welfare are Buti Jami (31 years old) and Dinh Thi Thuy Linh (26 years) from Vietnam, and Wang Xue (33) from China. They decided to enter university as a social preparation step to settle in Korea, and said they enrolled at Cheongam University with the help of the Gwangyang City Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Center.

Cheongam University President Seo Hyung-won said, “We expect the three new students who chose Cheongam University to pursue their dreams in this era of diverse cultures to play a leading role as female leaders in the global era, not only in multicultural families but also in the development of the local community.”

New student Buti Jami from Vietnam said, “While living in Korea, I struggled with language communication, child-rearing, social life, and employment, and felt very helpless, but I enrolled to take the opportunity to change and challenge myself through university admission.”

She also expressed a strong ambition to study hard for various families where children of marriage immigrants like herself can live together, obtain national certification, and work as a field professional social worker at social welfare institutions.
