Choi Hyung-sik, Damyang County Governor, Participates in Plastic Reduction 'GoGo Challenge'

[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Choi Hyungsik, the mayor of Damyang County, announced on the 4th that he participated in the GoGo Challenge, a plastic-free practice campaign, and suggested refusing unnecessary plastics when ordering delivery and separating transparent PET bottles for recycling.

The GoGo Challenge is a phrase derived from ‘refuse one thing you should not do’ and ‘do one thing you should do,’ and is an SNS relay campaign that encourages rejecting plastics that have become a daily part of our lives and protecting the environment. It was initiated earlier this year by former Minister of Environment Cho Myung-rae.

Mayor Choi Hyungsik joined the campaign upon the nomination of Jang Jong-tae, the mayor of Seo-gu, Daejeon, and nominated Lee Dong-jin, the mayor of Jindo County, Jeollanam-do, and Gu Chung-gon, the mayor of Hwasun County, as the next participants.

Mayor Choi emphasized that “the small inconvenience of refusing plastics is a great practice for future generations,” and said, “I hope this challenge will serve as an opportunity for all county residents to participate in reducing disposable products and plastics that have been indiscriminately generated due to COVID-19.”

Meanwhile, Damyang County is promoting the plastic-free practice campaign by installing ▲ transparent PET bottle recycling bins (16 locations, 24 units) and ▲ ice pack collection bins (18 locations, 34 units).
