According to the county on that day, the confirmed case classified as Jeonnam No. 872 (Hwasun No. 58) had suspicious symptoms such as sore throat and muscle pain, and visited the public health center's screening clinic the day before to undergo a diagnostic test.
As a result of the diagnostic test, the Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute confirmed a positive result.
The county immediately identified the movement route upon receiving the positive notification on the evening of the previous day, completed disinfection of the confirmed patient's residence and visited facilities, and the confirmed patient was isolated and hospitalized at Gangjin Medical Center.
In addition, emergency diagnostic tests were conducted on 59 people, including 3 cohabiting family members of the confirmed patient and other contacts and visitors along the movement route, all of whom tested negative.
So far, the infection route of Jeonnam No. 872 confirmed patient has not been identified.
The county is conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation together with the Jeonnam Province epidemiological investigation team to identify the infection route and other details.
County Governor Gu Chung-gon said in a statement, "The moment vigilance against the spread of COVID-19 is relaxed due to expectations from vaccination, a large-scale outbreak can start again at any time," and added, "Please always wear a mask wherever you are and strictly follow quarantine guidelines such as banning private gatherings of five or more people."
