[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Woongjin ThinkBig (CEO Lee Jaejin) announced on the 4th that it has launched the brain development diagnostic test 'Brain Check (Brain Check, hereinafter Bichek)'.
According to Woongjin ThinkBig, Bichek is a comprehensive cognitive development test jointly developed with OBELAB, a brain function measurement specialized company composed of researchers from KAIST. It scientifically and comprehensively analyzes a child's brain growth and cognitive ability development stages.
The diagnostic test uses the near-infrared brain imaging device 'Nirsit' to measure the condition of the frontal lobe, which plays an important role in cognitive development during childhood from ages 7 to 13. The frontal lobe is responsible for rational thinking and judgment, behavior, and emotion regulation. Therefore, through activation tests, it is possible to analyze six areas of a child’s ▲verbal fluency ▲attention ▲control ▲memory ▲spatial reasoning ability ▲emotion recognition from multiple perspectives.
The test is conducted for about 40 minutes by wearing the Nirsit device on the head and measuring the brain's oxygen saturation with near-infrared light. Results are provided one week later. It presents percentile indicators within the entire elementary school age group and the same grade, including brain development levels, allowing parents to compare whether their child has well-rounded cognitive development capabilities and is well-prepared for learning compared to peers. Woongjin ThinkBig added that parents and children can cultivate lacking cognitive abilities through recommended activities provided in the result analysis report.
Any elementary school student and parent wishing to take the Bichek test can make a reservation through the Brain Check website and receive the test at Woongjin Play City Kids Village located in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. Until the end of this month, the diagnostic test is available at a promotional price of 95,000 KRW.
A Woongjin ThinkBig official said, “Designed based on the latest brain neuroscience research, it provides highly reliable analysis results on the stages of brain development during childhood,” and added, “We will expand the regions in the future to improve accessibility so that the test can be taken more conveniently.”
