[Asia Economy Reporter Jumi Lee] Independent lawmaker Hong Joon-pyo said to Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who vowed to stake his position to block the establishment of the Serious Crime Investigation Office (SCIO), "If you are going to stake your position, please do so on investigations related to President Moon Jae-in."
On the 3rd, through Facebook, Rep. Hong said, "Please stake your position on investigations into whether President Moon Jae-in and his wife were involved as the upper line in the Druking case, whether President Moon was involved as the final decision-maker in the nuclear power plant corruption case, and whether President Moon was involved as the final destination in the Ulsan mayoral election interference corruption case."
He added, "Considering the remaining term of the Prosecutor General, there is still enough time," and urged again, "Rather than staking your position on protecting your own jurisdiction, stake it on the ongoing investigations related to the President."
He continued, "Then public opinion will deeply feel the justification for maintaining the prosecution's investigative authority, and you will become a hero who will be remembered in the history of the prosecution."

Rep. Hong said, "You conducted the investigations into the already dead powers, Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, so harshly, didn't you?" and emphasized, "If Prosecutor General Yoon becomes a prosecutor general who is loyal to the constitution and can also punish the living powers, he will be a great prosecutor remembered in Korean prosecution history. The moment of decision is coming."
Earlier, Prosecutor General Yoon expressed opposition to the establishment of the SCIO in consecutive media interviews on the 2nd and 3rd. He also expressed the same stance during his visit to Daegu High Prosecutors' Office and District Prosecutors' Office on the 3rd.
