- Sinansan Line Scheduled to Open in 2024... Expected to Improve Transportation Environment in Southwestern Seoul Metropolitan Area Including Ansan and Siheung
- Travel Time to Seoul Greatly Reduced: About 25 Minutes from Hanyang University Station to Yeouido Station, About 36 Minutes from Wonsi Station to Yeouido Station
With the Sinansan Line set to open in 2024, the southwestern metropolitan area is becoming a hotspot as a beneficiary of this development.
The Sinansan Line, constructed with an investment of 3.3465 trillion KRW, is a 44.7 km double-track railway connecting Ansan and Siheung in Gyeonggi Province, passing through Gwangmyeong, and reaching Yeouido in Seoul. The project has been underway since 1998 to resolve metropolitan transportation issues in the southwestern Seoul metropolitan area and officially broke ground in September 2019.
The Sinansan Line will have a total of 15 stations from Hanyang University Station to Yeouido Station. Once opened, travel times from southwestern Gyeonggi areas such as Ansan, Siheung, and Gwangmyeong to Seoul are expected to be significantly reduced.
The travel time between Hanyang University Station and Yeouido Station, which previously took about 100 minutes, will be shortened to approximately 25 minutes. Additionally, the travel time from Wonsi Station to Yeouido Station, which took about 69 minutes, is expected to be cut to around 36 minutes. Furthermore, with plans underway to extend the line beyond Yeouido Station to Seoul Station in a second phase, accessibility to the heart of Seoul will be further improved.
Moreover, the Sinansan Line’s branches will allow transfers to other railway lines. Transfers to the Sosa-Wonsi Line are possible between Wonsi Station and Siheung City Hall Station, and transfers to the Wolgot-Pangyo Line are available between Siheung City Hall Station and Gwangmyeong Station. This will facilitate easier access to major Gyeonggi areas such as Bucheon, Anyang, and Pangyo.
As the Sinansan Line enables quick travel from southwestern Gyeonggi to downtown Seoul, the real estate market in the areas along the route is heating up rapidly. Just as the Shinbundang Line, which quickly connected Suwon and Bundang to Seoul, and the Gimpo Gold Line, linking Gimpo and Seoul, increased the value of their respective regions, the value of southwestern Gyeonggi areas along the Sinansan Line is rising. In particular, attention is focused on Ansan, where 10 of the 15 stations on the Sinansan Line will be located.
Among these, Hanyang University Station, the terminus of the Sinansan Line, is expected to benefit greatly from the opening of the Smart Hub Tram (Oi-do Station to Hanyang University Station) scheduled for 2025. The future value of the Bandae Island area in Siwha MTV is being evaluated especially highly. This area offers premium waterfront locations in front of Siwha Lake and allows residents to enjoy Seoul’s urban living area via the Sinansan Line and Smart Hub Tram.
A local official stated, “With the Sinansan Line opening in 2024, it will take about 25 minutes to travel from Hanyang University Station to Yeouido Station, enabling a perfect shared Seoul living area, raising expectations among local residents. Additionally, with the Smart Hub Tram, which connects to the Sinansan Line, scheduled to open in 2025, the value of the Siwha Lake area, which will greatly benefit from these transportation developments, is increasing day by day.”
Meanwhile, with the upcoming opening of the new Gold Line and Sinansan Line connecting Ansan and Seoul, the Siwha MTV Bandae Island, now closer to Seoul, will host ‘Siwha Lake Lagoon in Terrace,’ marking the start of Korea’s first lagoon life. A Smart Hub Tram station will be located near the complex, allowing direct travel to Hanyang University Station. From there, taking the Sinansan Line will provide excellent transportation access to Seoul.
Siwha Lake Lagoon in Terrace will be a large-scale complex consisting of 8 buildings with a total of 2,554 units and a maximum height of 49 floors. Located close to Siwha Lake, all unit types will offer views of the lake. Additionally, all unit types will feature summer kitchen-style (with water fixtures) terraces to enhance terrace usability. Furthermore, high-end community facilities and hotel services will be provided for residents, allowing them to enjoy the lagoon premium.
