CJ ENM-Naver Strategic Collaboration Initiative
[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] Naver Plus Membership subscribers can now enjoy unlimited access to TVING's latest dramas and variety shows.
CJ ENM's online video service (OTT) TVING announced on the 4th that it has partnered with Naver to launch a bundled product for Naver Plus Membership.
This is the first collaborative case presented by the two companies since CJ ENM and Naver agreed to a share swap for comprehensive cooperation and established a strategic partnership last October.
The benefits for Naver Plus Membership subscribers now include the ‘TVING Unlimited Broadcast Pass.’ Members who choose this option can enjoy about 70,000 latest dramas and variety programs from tvN, JTBC, OCN, and more, such as the drama "Vincenzo," the variety show "Youn's Stay," and the concert "KCON:TACT 3," without any additional cost.
TVING original variety show "Yeogochuriban" and drama "Writing Your Destiny," among other TVING original broadcast content, will be available for viewing temporarily until June 30 to commemorate the service launch. However, the 10,000 movie titles currently offered by TVING are not included in this service.
Naver Plus Membership subscribers are also offered an upgrade option to enjoy all TVING content in ultra-high definition. Starting from the Naver Plus Membership fee of 4,900 KRW, adding 3,000 KRW for the TVING Basic Pass, 6,000 KRW for the Standard Pass, or 9,000 KRW for the Premium Pass allows members to watch TVING original content like Yeogochuriban and movies in high quality.
Yang Ji-eul, CEO of TVING, said, “With this service integration, TVING expects to accelerate subscriber acquisition, and Naver can provide more benefits to its membership subscribers, creating synergy. Starting with the popular Yeogochuriban, we plan to release about 20 TVING original contents this year, continuously expanding the content portfolio that TVING members can enjoy.”
Meanwhile, TVING was spun off from CJ ENM last October to become an independent corporation and has been focusing on securing original content and expanding its business. In January this year, JTBC Studio joined through equity investment, and the drama "Writing Your Destiny," created by writer Kim Eun-sook, is scheduled to be released on the 26th of this month.
