Contributing to Alleviating Parking Difficulties for Jinju Station Users and Nearby Residents
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that it will open three public parking lots with 270 spaces in April to provide parking convenience for Jinju Station users and local residents in the Shinjinju station area.
The Shinjinju station area is a region with many illegal parking issues due to Jinju Station users' reluctance to use paid parking lots and a shortage of parking spaces. This problem is exacerbated by the lack of parking spaces for residents of recently increased apartment complexes and officetels, causing significant inconvenience to residents.
To address this, the city plans to create off-street public parking lots (200 spaces) at 2071 and 2069-1 Gajwa-dong, and open them together in April when the installation of parking convenience facilities is completed at the underground public parking lot (70 spaces) in the park at 2072 Gajwa-dong, which was created during the housing development.
The two off-street parking lots will be opened free of charge, while the underground parking lot in the park at 2072 Gajwa-dong will operate elevators and a parking control system, and after a trial operation period, it will be operated as a paid parking lot.
A city official stated, “We expect that opening the parking lots will somewhat alleviate parking inconveniences and help solve illegal parking issues,” and added, “We will continue to promote public parking lot projects utilizing parking sites within the station area.”
