[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] As sterilization and disinfection have become routine in daily life due to COVID-19, Central Insight is intensifying its virus and bacteria disinfection and sterilization business by launching an air sterilizer product.
Central Insight announced on the 3rd that it has launched an air sterilizer that removes various viruses and bacteria, including COVID-19.
Central Insight judged that simple measurements such as body temperature have limitations in suppressing the spread of the COVID-19 virus in places with multiple visitors. Based on this, the company felt the need for equipment to disinfect indoor air environments and developed the product.
The air sterilizer launched by Central Insight is expected to be installed in various spaces such as multi-use facilities, shopping centers, and large buildings, as it can disinfect indoor environments based on advanced technology.
The air sterilizer can continuously disinfect by removing various viruses and fine dust through UV sterilization and filters. By disinfecting harmful viruses in the air, the company explains that inquiries are already flooding in, as it can effectively block infectious diseases in multi-use facilities such as schools, government offices, and financial institutions.
The electronics industry expects air purifier sales to reach 3 million units this year, an increase of 500,000 units compared to last year's estimated sales of 2.5 million units. In particular, demand for air purifiers is gradually increasing as more households install more than one air purifier.
Abroad, air sterilizers, which were used as specialized medical devices in operating rooms, have been adapted into products suitable for general indoor use, making installation and use convenient. It is expected that the release of general consumer models of air sterilizers, which are medical disinfection devices completely different from conventional air purifiers, will reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
A company official explained, "The air sterilizer launched this time has the advantage of not requiring filter replacement, so there are no consumable costs," and added, "As the era of air sterilizers is expected to come, it will be supplied to multi-use facilities with a high risk of airborne infection such as schools, daycare centers, nursing homes, postpartum care centers, and theaters."
