[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Junhyung] Due to COVID-19, outdoor accommodations such as glamping and caravans, which allow relatively safe travel, are gaining popularity. Glamping refers to luxury camping, and caravans mean mobile homes.
Yanolja announced on the 3rd that the transaction amount for glamping and caravans from January to February this year increased about fourfold compared to the same period last year. During the same period, the number of reservations also increased by more than 261%.
By region, Gyeonggi-do and Gangwon-do showed high usage rates. In particular, Gapyeong, Pocheon, and Hongcheon in Gyeonggi Province were popular. These are accommodations located within 1 to 2 hours by personal vehicle from the metropolitan area.
Earlier, in June last year, Yanolja established a category where users can view and book over 240 famous glamping and caravan accommodations nationwide at a glance. According to Yanolja, considering the steadily increasing demand for outdoor accommodations this year as well, they plan to continuously discover domestic outdoor accommodations and strengthen this category.
A Yanolja official said, "As the COVID-19 pandemic prolongs, demand for safely enjoyed travel has increased, leading to a sharp growth in transactions for outdoor accommodations," adding, "With the ongoing untact trend in the leisure industry, we will strive to provide leisure experiences that customers can enjoy with peace of mind."
