Gwangju Immigration Office Conducts Early Morning Labor Market COVID-19 Prevention Campaign

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners Office (Director Lim Chaeim) has launched early morning guidance activities at labor markets to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in industrial complexes.

The Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners Office announced on the 3rd that it conducted guidance activities early in the morning focusing on densely populated labor waiting areas around Usan-dong and Wolgok-dong Korean Village in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.

This activity was promoted to prevent similar cases such as the recent cluster infections in industrial complexes like Jin-gwan Industrial Complex in Namyangju and textile companies in Dongducheon, and to alleviate the reluctance to undergo testing due to identity exposure of undocumented foreigners.

On that day, the focus was on encouraging compliance with quarantine rules such as wearing masks and using hand sanitizers at workplaces, and providing information on free special COVID-19 testing for foreigners and exemption from the obligation to report illegal stay, so that foreigners could feel safe to get tested.

A representative of the Gwangju Immigration and Foreigners Office said, “We will continue to provide guidance in agricultural and industrial complexes in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas where many foreigners are employed,” and added, “As the main agency managing foreigners, we will do our best to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.”
