Jaeyong Park, Head of Textile Business at Taekwang Industrial, Joins the 'GO Challenge'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Taekwang Industrial, a textile and petrochemical affiliate of Taekwang Group, announced on the 3rd that it has joined the SNS campaign "Go Go Challenge," which practices environmental protection by reducing plastics in daily life.

The Go Go Challenge is a "plastic-free" lifestyle campaign initiated by the Ministry of Environment in January. To reduce the use of disposable products and plastics, participants pledge one "thing not to do" and one "thing to do" in daily life and then nominate the next participant.

Park Jae-yong, CEO of the Textile Business Division, who was nominated by Lim Seok-won, CEO of Taepyungyang Mills, stated through Instagram, "Taekwang Industrial employees will actively participate in reducing the use of disposable products and leading eco-friendly marketing with recycled products to create sustainable value." At the same time, he nominated Kim Jun, Chairman of the Korea Spinners Association (Kyungbang Co., Ltd.), Lee Ui-yeol, Chairman of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Textile Industry Association (Deokwoo Industrial Co., Ltd.), and Lee In-soo, CEO of Hanil Fibers Co., Ltd., as the next relay participants.

Taekwang Industrial is focusing on enhancing the functionality of eco-friendly textiles by integrating "sustainability," the biggest issue in the textile industry. Last year, through a business agreement with Taepyungyang Mills, they successfully completed the eco-friendly collection "RE:ON Project," which incorporated sustainability from materials to design. This year, they are continuing various eco-friendly brand marketing activities, including an online advertising campaign for their own brand "ACEPORA®-ECO," an eco-friendly functional textile gaining attention.

A Taekwang Industrial official said, "It has been three years since we first introduced the ACEPORA®-ECO brand products in 2019," adding, "We plan to continue various efforts for coexistence with the global environment through the development of sustainable eco-friendly materials and commercialization of products, using this campaign as an opportunity."
