Seocho-gu Operates Vaccine Adverse Reaction Reporting App and Call Center

Manage various vaccine statistics including COVID-19 vaccines through the app; planned application to Seocho-gu Vaccine Center and local entrusted medical institutions in the future

Seocho-gu Operates Vaccine Adverse Reaction Reporting App and Call Center

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu has developed an app (Seocho COVID-19 Vaccine Adverse Reaction Reporting Call) that allows residents to report adverse reactions after vaccination, in response to concerns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine and residents' anxiety. They have also started operating a call center to receive reports of adverse reactions.

Nurses are assigned to the call center to provide detailed consultations regarding adverse reactions.

By installing the adverse reaction reporting app and scanning the QR code at the COVID-19 vaccination site, medical institution and vaccine information are automatically entered. If an adverse reaction occurs, direct calls can be made to the Seocho-gu call center, 1339, or 119, and adverse reactions can be sent via text using the app.

Once a report is received, a preliminary examination doctor reviews it and provides an opinion. The public health center’s adverse reaction call center then comprehensively assesses the report and the doctor's opinion to respond in real time.

A Seocho-gu official stated, “It is very important to self-monitor your body for adverse reactions even after returning home from vaccination. Symptoms such as swelling or pain at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle pain, which resemble cold symptoms, usually disappear after 2 to 3 days. However, adverse reactions such as facial paralysis or anaphylaxis (swelling of the mouth or lips, generalized hives, difficulty breathing) should be reported through the app and immediate medical assistance should be sought.”

Additionally, the app includes functions for vaccine inventory management and generating various statistical data, enabling systematic management of vaccinations. In the future, it will also be used for adverse reactions to other vaccines such as influenza, not just COVID-19.

This app will be applied not only at the Seocho-gu vaccine center but also at local entrusted medical institutions to establish an integrated operation system.

Meanwhile, Seocho-gu began COVID-19 vaccinations on February 26 at 9 a.m. starting with the Seocho-gu Senior Care Center.

From February 26 to March 3, vaccinations are being administered to 188 residents under 65 years old and related staff at four local senior care facilities. Starting March 22, vaccinations will be given to first responders such as public health center staff and 119 paramedics at the Seocho-gu Public Health Center.

Choi Young-geun, acting director of the Seocho-gu Public Health Center, stated, “The district is operating the COVID-19 vaccine adverse reaction reporting app and a dedicated call center to ensure residents can receive vaccinations with peace of mind.”
