"At Night, onto the Screen"... LG Electronics Attaches Transparent LED to Glass Wall of Busan Cinema Center

Creation of Media Art Spanning a Total Area of 206㎡

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Electronics has implemented large-scale media art using transparent light-emitting diode (LED) film on the Busan Cinema Center building, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

According to LG Electronics on the 3rd, the transparent LED installed on the glass wall of the Cinema Center building located in Haeundae-gu, Busan, measures approximately 45 meters in width and 4.5 meters in height, with a total installation area of 206㎡. The exterior wall of the Cinema Center with the transparent LED film appears like a transparent regular glass window during the day but transforms into a screen showing iconic scenes from movies in the evening. An interactive media art experience called 'Screen Experience in Movies,' where the video changes according to audience reactions, will also be added.

LG Electronics expects that the beautiful scenery created by the LG transparent LED film will capture the attention of many visitors, as this location is near Centum City, a high foot traffic area, and serves as the main venue for the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF).

Transparent LED film is a type of LED signage. It combines a mesh-patterned electrode and LED packages on a transparent film. Since it uses an adhesive film material, signage can be easily implemented by simply attaching it to windows or walls.

This product has a transparency level of up to 73%, similar to tinted car windshields. Being only 2mm thick in film form, it can be shaped as desired to fit square or rectangular shapes or installation locations. The curvature radius, indicating the degree of bending, is up to 1100R (the degree of bending of a circle with a radius of 1100mm), allowing installation on curved surfaces as well.

LG Electronics is targeting commercial display demand based on a wide range of solutions, including ▲Micro LED signage LG MAGNIT ▲OLED and transparent OLED signage ▲indoor and outdoor LED signage.
