Gwangjin-gu Supports Young YouTubers to Promote Small and Medium Enterprises

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is recruiting young job seekers to participate in the ‘Youth YouTuber Development and Job Creation Project’ until the 12th, and participating companies until the 19th.

This project, promoted as part of the community-led youth job project, aims to nurture young people as YouTubers to provide work experience opportunities within the region and support participating companies with youth workforce and promotion and marketing.

First, young participants will be recruited until the 12th. Eligible applicants are young job seekers aged between 18 and 39 who reside in Gwangjin-gu or have graduated (or are expected to graduate) from a university (graduate school) located in the district.

Selected participants will join the ‘Youth YouTube Creator Academy’ for five weeks starting from the 19th, where they will learn YouTube content planning and production processes. Among them, those who pass the selection process will be assigned to companies and start working from May.

Working conditions are 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 8 months from May to December, with a monthly salary of 2.2 million KRW before deductions for the four major social insurances.

Along with this, the district is recruiting a total of five companies to participate in the project until the 19th.

Applicants must be small and medium-sized enterprises or social economy enterprises located in Gwangjin-gu with promotional and marketing positions that can utilize YouTube. They are required to bear 200,000 KRW per month (10% of total labor cost) of the youth worker’s wage and the four major insurance fees.

Youth job seekers and companies wishing to participate can submit the application documents by visiting or emailing the Gwangjin-gu Job Policy Division within the deadline. For more details, check the announcement on the Gwangjin-gu Office website or contact the Job Policy Division.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “With the growth of the 4th industrial revolution and the impact of COVID-19, promotion using online platforms and YouTube is becoming increasingly important. Therefore, the district has prepared this project to nurture local youth to become YouTubers and simultaneously help the growth and market expansion of local companies.”
