On the 2nd, Hadong county council members, district council members, and the Gyeongnam Medical Association, along with the residents of Hadong County, voiced their opposition to the decision regarding the location of the public hospital in Western Gyeongnam.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Residents of Hadong-gun, Gyeongnam, have demanded the immediate withdrawal of the designation for the establishment of a public hospital in Western Gyeongnam.
In a statement on the 2nd regarding the site decision for the Western Gyeongnam public hospital, they explained, "Among the three candidate sites, the Hadong Jingyo-myeon site is adjacent to the Namhae Expressway, offering excellent accessibility, and since it is owned, construction can begin without land acquisition procedures. Additionally, it has a rear site that allows for the establishment of a medical complex center, meeting the primary site selection criteria."
They demanded, "Please clearly explain why Hadong was excluded from the candidate site selection and why the originally selected site (the former Yeha Elementary School) was changed to another area."
They also stated, "Even though a new general hospital is being constructed near the selected site, we request an explanation as to why a public hospital must be built there. Furthermore, we demand the transparent disclosure of the evaluation process, including who assessed the candidate sites and made the final decision."
They also urged Gyeongnam Province to immediately withdraw the announcement of the Western Gyeongnam public hospital candidate site selection, which has various issues.
On the 26th of last month, Gyeongnam Province announced that the area around the former Yeha Elementary School was selected as the first priority site for the establishment of the Western Gyeongnam public hospital, based on the deliberation results of the Western Gyeongnam Public Medical Expansion Public Deliberation Council.
