About 20 people, including Chairman and Gwangyang Mayor Jeong Hyeon-bok, committee members, advisory members, and related officials, attended the meeting, which proceeded in the order of ▲Policy trends of the hydrogen industry ▲Introduction of the secondary battery materials business ▲Sharing the operation performance of the Gwangyang City 4th Industrial Revolution Committee and this year’s operation plan ▲Explanation of the progress in the construction of the Gwangyang Bay Area Materials and Components Knowledge Industry Center.

The government views the 4th Industrial Revolution as a new opportunity for national development to recover daily life and the economy from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for the post-COVID-19 era, and is strongly promoting the ‘Korean New Deal Project.’

In line with this, the city has prepared measures to effectively apply the policy trends of the ‘hydrogen industry’ and ‘secondary batteries’ to Gwangyang City to foster future new growth engine industries through the promotion of the ‘Gwangyang-type Korean New Deal Policy.’

Since the launch of the 1st Gwangyang City 4th Industrial Revolution Committee in October 2018, the city shared the achievements pursued by the committee members and the city for the development of the 4th industry and discussed the operation plan of the Gwangyang City 4th Industrial Revolution Committee for this year, laying the foundation for solid operation.

Finally, the city explained the progress in the construction of the ‘Gwangyang Bay Area Materials and Components Knowledge Industry Center’ related to the 4th industry currently being promoted and collected opinions from the committee.

Mayor Jeong Hyeon-bok of Gwangyang City expressed gratitude to the attending committee members for the ‘development of the 4th industry’ that will be responsible for the future of Gwangyang City, saying, “Despite the poor business conditions due to the COVID-19 aftermath, last year we signed MOUs and attracted investments worth approximately 1.3742 trillion KRW from 34 companies, widely promoting Gwangyang’s reputation as a ‘business-friendly city.’”

He added, “I hope that through the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee, a consensus will be formed and in-depth discussions will continue for the hopeful future of Gwangyang City’s 4th industry.”

Meanwhile, the Gwangyang City 4th Industrial Revolution Committee plans to establish a comprehensive plan and policy direction related to the 4th industry this year and perform various advisory roles to discover new public project proposals, creating new growth engines for Gwangyang City.
