Ministry of Employment and Labor's Selection for the 'Regional and Industry-Tailored Job Creation Support Contest'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Moon Seok-jin) announced on the 2nd that it was finally selected for the ‘2021 Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Contest’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor with the ‘Sinchon Box Square Startup Project,’ securing 124 million KRW in national funding.
This contest was implemented to support local governments and job-related organizations that form consortia to discover and propose job projects tailored to regional characteristics, followed by evaluation and support.
Since 2018, the district has collaborated with the Korea Sharing Economy Promotion Agency to allow 23 youth stores to move into Sinchon Box Square (22-5 Sinchon Station-ro), creating jobs for 53 young people by last year.
Additionally, to support the growth and operations of young merchants, education has been provided on menu development, customer service, tax affairs, and online sales, along with the promotion of ‘goods’ (planned products) development.
Recognized for these achievements, Seodaemun-gu, selected as a support target, plans to recruit and select resident young merchants this year as well, conduct special lectures by senior entrepreneurs, operate a growing merchants school, provide online sales channel support programs, and hold cultural events at Sinchon Box Square.
Mayor Moon Seok-jin of Seodaemun-gu said, “We hope that the success of being selected in this Ministry of Employment and Labor contest will lead to more dynamic youth job creation and revitalization of the local economy through the utilization of Sinchon Box Square.”
