[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] YG PLUS announced on the 2nd that it has been selected as an International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) manager by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) based in London.
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is the unique international standard code and permanent identifier for recordings, widely used internationally due to its efficiency in copyright management.
In particular, global music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube, Amazon, and Deezer require ISRC registration for music tracks, making it an essential code for distributing music and music videos in the global market.
Currently, only five domestic distributors are registered as ISRC managers, and the majority of distributors still obtain ISRCs through the domestic Music Integrated Management System (MIMS) or overseas companies. YG PLUS was selected as the final manager in recognition of its internalized distribution system and professional capabilities, and plans to directly issue ISRC codes to domestic agencies to distribute the corresponding music and videos worldwide.
YG PLUS stated, “This manager selection is the result of recognition of the credibility of our ongoing global distribution business. We will further advance the global distribution process and expand overseas distribution for domestic and international record companies.”
