[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Nam Gu-jun, head of the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters, presided over his first investigative leadership video conference since taking office on the 2nd and called for the realization of "people-centered responsible investigation."


In his opening remarks, Director Nam said, "I feel a heavy sense of mission and responsibility in taking on the important role of head of the National Investigation Headquarters at this critical time when we must realize 'people-centered responsible investigation,'" adding, "Now is the time to show the public a responsible attitude and prove our capabilities."


Director Nam emphasized securing the professionalism, fairness, and completeness of investigations by enhancing the capabilities of individual investigators, professional investigative leadership by division and team leaders, including investigative department heads, and securing investigation closure capabilities through investigative examiners.


He also expressed his determination to prioritize addressing difficulties at the investigation sites. Director Nam stated, "I will do my best to improve conditions such as increasing personnel at the field and raising investigation budgets so that investigative police officers can take pride and focus on their core duties," emphasizing, "The personnel and organizational operation system for investigative police will also be completely redesigned with the field as the center."


The video conference was attended by the leadership of the National Investigation Headquarters, the deputy head of investigations at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, investigative department heads and division and section chiefs from each provincial police agency, and investigative police commanders including division and team leaders from police stations nationwide.
