[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Eugene Robot, a company specializing in autonomous driving solutions, announced on the 2nd that it has appointed Park Sungjoo, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and President, as the new CEO through its board of directors.
Since joining the company in 2000, Park Sungjoo has led the development of finished product robots such as cleaning robots and logistics robots GoCart. Since 2018, he has served as CTO and President, driving the development of robot components and solution technologies including 3D LiDAR sensors and autonomous driving solutions. In particular, he is recognized as the key figure who transformed the business model from focusing on finished product development and production to an autonomous driving solution business system based on the accumulated technological expertise.
Eugene Robot is preparing to launch about 10 new products related to autonomous driving solutions within this year. Additionally, mass production preparations for mobility applying the company’s autonomous driving solutions are underway. Through close cooperation with its investor, the German company Miele, both companies plan to jointly promote future growth engine businesses and expand their expertise in the global robot market.
CEO Park said, “Eugene Robot possesses research capabilities and production lines for autonomous driving technologies including sensors, platforms, controllers, and system integration (SI) through its experience in developing logistics and service robots. With the spread of untact culture, autonomous driving technology is expected to be applied in various industries such as hospitals, hotels, and logistics. We aim to achieve rapid growth and become a global company through the full-scale mass production of autonomous driving solution (AMS) applied products after 2022.”
Meanwhile, former CEO Shin Kyungchul will serve as an honorary chairman and advisor to support business operations, while maintaining his position as CEO of Siman, the holding company of Eugene Robot.
