Jongno-gu Offers Youth Opportunities for District Administration Participation, Recruiting 'Youth District Evaluation Group'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is operating the '2021 Jongno-gu Youth District Evaluation Group,' which carefully monitors every corner of the local community, reports inconveniences in daily life, and provides innovative ideas for district development, and has begun recruitment in March.

The target applicants are youths aged 13 to 18 and middle and high school students.

To apply, applicants can either receive a recommendation from their school principal or download the application form directly from the district office website, fill it out, and submit it via email to the person in charge at 8113@mail.jongno.go.kr.

The recruitment period is from March 2 to March 31.

Those finally selected as youth district evaluation members will maintain their status from April until they turn 18 or graduate from high school.

Activities include reporting ▲ safety hazards (such as road damage, aging buildings), ▲ inconveniences in citizens' daily lives (such as subway lift malfunctions, lack of designated parking lots, malfunctioning audio signals for the visually impaired), ▲ factors harming urban aesthetics (such as uncollected garbage, abandoned large household waste), and ▲ causes of environmental pollution (such as illegal waste dumping, construction noise), as well as participating in monitoring Jongno-gu events and facilities.

As a benefit for activities, up to one hour of volunteer service time is credited per report submitted. However, on weekdays, it is limited to one hour, and on weekends, public holidays, and school vacations, it is limited to eight hours per day.

Additionally, members will be invited to various cultural events hosted by Jongno-gu, and outstanding members will be selected at the end of the year to receive commendations from the district mayor.

For more detailed information regarding recruitment and operation of the district evaluation group, please refer to the Jongno-gu district office website or contact the Disaster Safety Team.

District Mayor Kim Young-jong stated, "Youth who propose fresh ideas for regional development are a great support for district administration. I hope that this year, the youth district evaluation group will make meaningful strides as members of the local community," and added, "We ask for much interest in the evaluation group activities that contribute to making Jongno a safe and healthy child-friendly city."
