[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] It has been confirmed that there have been 5 cases of adverse reactions among those vaccinated against COVID-19 in Gwangju Metropolitan City so far.

According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 1st, as of 2 p.m. on the 26th of last month, 3,314 people have completed vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

This includes 3,017 people at 42 nursing hospitals and 297 people at 8 nursing facilities. This corresponds to 30.5% of the target group of 8,800 people at 65 nursing hospitals and 2,079 people at 83 nursing facilities.

The main adverse reactions were fever and local allergic reactions, and all 5 individuals are reported to have improved symptoms.

Generally, reactions similar to those of existing vaccines such as pain, swelling, redness, fever, nausea, muscle pain, fatigue, and headache are observed.

A quarantine authority official stated, “These symptoms are part of the immune formation process after vaccination and usually disappear within a day or two, but if they persist for more than 3 days, you should visit a hospital,” adding, “It is necessary to pay special attention to your physical condition and monitor it for about 3 hours and up to 3 days after vaccination.”

Meanwhile, starting from the 4th until May, vaccination will begin for about 13,800 people under the age of 65 at hospital level institutions (tertiary general hospitals and general hospitals).
