Appointment Certificates Presented to Chairman Kang In-ho and Others of the 1st LH Public Architecture Deliberation Committee

[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 1st that it held the ‘2020 Housing Design Awards’ event at the Wirye Newlywed Hope Town Exhibition Hall on the 26th.
Started in 2018 and now in its third year, the ‘LH Housing Design Awards’ selected and awarded six of the best housing design projects among 84 districts that won the 2020 LH public housing design competition.
The Grand Prize was awarded to Tomoon Architects for Gyeongsan Daeim A-5, A-6, and A-7BL, while the Excellence Awards went to J Architects for Suwon Hwaseo and SI Group Architects for Seongnam Geumto A-4BL.
The Encouragement Awards were given to Gangnam Comprehensive Architects for Gyeongsan Daeim A-8, A-9, B-1BL, Point Urban Architects for Yangju Goeup A-12BL, and Batang Architects for Hwaseong Dongtan 2 A-54BL.
On the same day, LH also held the inauguration ceremony for the ‘1st LH Public Architecture Deliberation Committee.’
The committee is an advisory and review body at the architectural planning stage to enhance the public value and design quality of LH buildings, and it began its activities this year.
Professor Kang In-ho of Hannam University serves as the chairperson, with members including Professor Lee Je-seon of Yonsei University, Professor Kim So-ra of University of Seoul, Professor Park Jin-ho of Inha University, Kim Hye-ran, CEO of Yale Comprehensive Architects, and LH-related officials and experts from various fields.
During the subsequent roundtable discussion, topics such as improving the image of LH long-term public rental housing, the future direction of public housing in Korea, and required improvements were discussed.
Kwun Hyuk-rye, head of LH’s Public Housing Headquarters, said, “Through hosting the Housing Design Awards, we will strive not only for design innovation in public housing but also for developing residential models that combine living SOC and various housing services to meet the changed expectations of the public.”
