[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 28th that it has published the ‘2020 Gwangju Urban Regeneration White Paper’ and the ‘2020 Gwangju Urban Regeneration Newsletter Collection,’ which gather the progress, changes, and achievements of last year’s Urban Regeneration New Deal projects in one place.
This is the second edition of the Urban Regeneration White Paper, which compiles the Urban Regeneration New Deal projects from 17 locations in Gwangju.
The white paper was published with the purpose of providing a comprehensive view of the changes and effects of the Urban Regeneration New Deal projects, which show visible project outcomes through financial investment by designating urban regeneration activation areas.
The white paper is largely composed of three chapters. Chapter 1 provides a comprehensive overview of the status of Gwangju’s Urban Regeneration New Deal projects; Chapter 2 categorizes the 17 Urban Regeneration New Deal projects according to the ‘Gwangju-style Urban Regeneration Basic Plan’ into culture, living space, workplace regeneration, and newly selected types; and Chapter 3 concludes with expert retrospectives on Gwangju’s urban regeneration and suggestions for future directions.
The newsletter collection, published for the first time this year, is a compilation of 45 newsletters from 12 Urban Regeneration Support Centers (metropolitan, basic, and field) in Gwangju that currently publish newsletters.
Chapter 1 introduces the Urban Regeneration Support Centers in the Gwangju area, and Chapter 2 organizes the newsletters scattered across centers by autonomous district units to provide convenience to readers.
The white paper and newsletter collection can be downloaded from the city’s official website or the Gwangju Urban Regeneration Community Center website.
Im Chan-hyeok, head of the city’s Urban Regeneration Policy Division, said, “We hope that the publication of the white paper and newsletter collection will provide an opportunity to share know-how and experiences in project implementation with officials and activists working on the front lines of urban regeneration, and to inform citizens in detail about the progress of the projects.”
