[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] On Monday, Samiljeol, heavy rain or snow will fall nationwide. Up to 100mm of heavy rain is expected in the Seoul metropolitan area, and heavy snowfall is forecasted in the Yeongdong region of Gangwon Province, requiring caution.

On the 28th, the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) forecasted that rain is falling in Chungcheong Province, southern regions, and Jeju Island due to a low-pressure system from the west, and heavy snow and rain will continue nationwide until March 2. Heavy rain is expected in the west, and heavy snow in the east, so damage to facilities should be carefully monitored.

The KMA stated, "Thunder, lightning, and gusts will accompany the precipitation, and the snow will be relatively heavy, so caution is needed to protect facilities such as livestock barns and vinyl greenhouses." They added, "Starting from the early morning of the 2nd, rain in the Seoul metropolitan area will change to snow, which will either melt or accumulate slightly. Due to subzero temperatures, road surfaces will freeze, causing congestion during the morning commute, so prior preparation is necessary."

The rain that began this afternoon will expand to the central regions by the early morning of March 1. From tomorrow until the early morning of the 2nd, heavy rain will fall in the Seoul metropolitan area, western Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Jeolla regions. The Gyeongsang region and Jeju Island will be affected by rain clouds until noon on the 2nd, and the Yeongdong region of Gangwon until 3 p.m. that day.

Moisture inflowing from the south will strongly develop rain clouds, bringing rain accompanied by thunder, lightning, and gusts mainly to the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, and northern Chungcheong. From daytime on the 1st until the afternoon of the 2nd, heavy snowfall exceeding 50cm is expected in Gangwon Province, with a high possibility of a heavy snow warning being issued. From the night of the 1st, up to 8cm of snow is expected mainly in northern and eastern Gyeonggi and northern Gyeongbuk.

From the early morning to the afternoon of the 2nd, very strong winds with speeds of 10?16m/s and maximum gusts of 20m/s are expected mainly along the eastern coast of the Gyeongsang region. From the afternoon of the 1st, waves will rise again in the West Sea and East Sea, with waves exceeding 5m expected until the 2nd in the West Sea and until the 3rd in the East Sea.
