[Report] "Waited 2 Hours" Huge Crowd in Front of Eggslut Yeouido Branch 'What Happened?'

'Eggslut 2nd Branch' Opens on B1 Floor of 'The Hyundai Seoul' in Yeouido, Seoul
Over 100 People Gather Immediately After Opening, Waiting Times Extend to 2 Hours

[Report] "Waited 2 Hours" Huge Crowd in Front of Eggslut Yeouido Branch 'What Happened?' On the 27th, at the 'Eggslut 2nd Branch' store opened on the B1 floor of 'The Hyundai Seoul' in Yeouido, Seoul, people are placing orders while maintaining a certain distance in compliance with quarantine guidelines.

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] "'I waited nearly two hours to eat the 'Fairfax' sandwich."

At around 11:30 a.m. on the 27th, Kim Ji-young (34, female), who visited Eggslut's second store, an American California sandwich brand located in the 'Tasty Seoul' food hall on the B1 floor of The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido, Seoul, said, "I visited because it reminded me of the memories I had when I tasted it during my trip to the U.S."

Eggslut's second store, introduced domestically last year by SPC Samlip, a subsidiary of SPC Group, is experiencing a rush of customers. On this day, more than 100 people flocked to the store as soon as it opened at 10:30 a.m., resulting in wait times of 1 to 2 hours. The area around the store was surrounded by people standing in line at intervals to comply with quarantine guidelines. Among the brands in 'Tasty Seoul,' Eggslut required the longest wait to purchase.

The taste reviews were also positive. Park So-young (45, female), a local resident who visited Eggslut's second store that day, said, "I waited an hour because I wanted to eat the Fairfax sandwich and Slut," adding, "They perfectly recreated the taste I had in the U.S., so I will visit often."

The most popular items are the Fairfax sandwich, orange juice, and Slut. The prices are 7,800 won, 5,500 won, and 6,800 won, respectively. The Fairfax sandwich combines animal welfare eggs, cheddar cheese, onion, and Sriracha mayo sauce. The Slut is served with potato pur?e, animal welfare eggs, and baguette.

To commemorate the opening of Eggslut's second store, SPC Samlip collaborated with the U.S. headquarters to launch a limited edition menu of 30 items per day called the 'Lobster Avocado Burger.' The 16,300 won Lobster Avocado Burger sold out within two hours after opening. This burger uses lobster tail, Angus beef patty, animal welfare eggs, avocado, pickles, and Sriracha mayo (a sauce made by mixing Sriracha hot sauce with mayonnaise).

Eggslut's sales are known to rank within the top five among the 90 F&B outlets in The Hyundai Seoul. A representative from the Eggslut store explained, "On the 26th and 27th, excluding bakeries, we recorded the highest sales among the ready-to-eat stores."

Eggslut is a brand that sells egg sandwiches and other items developed by a fine dining chef using eggs and ingredients. SPC Samlip introduced it domestically by opening the first store at COEX near Samsung Station in Seoul in July last year. Interest was so high that more than 300 people lined up even before the opening. The flagship Fairfax sandwich sold over 2,000 units.

SPC Group plans to open an Eggslut store locally in Singapore this year. When SPC Group introduced Eggslut to Korea last year, it also acquired the business operation rights for Singapore simultaneously.
