[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] On the first day of COVID-19 vaccination, the 26th, 1,922 people were vaccinated in Seoul, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (CDSCH) announced on the 27th. This corresponds to 90.0% of the initially planned number of vaccinations on the first day (2,185 people) announced by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Additionally, the CDSCH stated that a total of 18,489 people nationwide completed their COVID-19 vaccinations the previous day.
Jeon Hae-cheol, the 2nd Deputy Director of the CDSCH (Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety), explained during the CDSCH meeting's opening remarks that "Yesterday, COVID-19 vaccinations with the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine were carried out as planned for 18,489 residents and workers at 17 public health centers and 213 nursing facilities nationwide."
He added, "Starting today, Pfizer vaccine vaccinations will also be administered to workers at COVID-19 treatment hospitals at five vaccination centers nationwide, beginning with the Central Vaccination Center," and "Following the arrival of 58,500 doses of the Pfizer vaccine yesterday, an additional 500,000 doses will be introduced from the fourth week of March."
