Ministry of SMEs and Startups Launches 'Regulation Encyclopedia' for Easy Access to Regulatory Laws in Everyday Language

Useful for companies facing regulatory uncertainties when entering new technology and new business fields

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Kwon Chil-seung) announced on the 28th that it has launched the 'Regulation Encyclopedia' on the 'Regulatory Free Zone Website' to allow anyone in the public to easily search regulatory laws in their areas of interest.

The Regulation Encyclopedia is a user-centered intelligent regulatory law search system that supports searching regulatory laws conveniently, like finding a desired book in a library, by allowing users to find regulatory laws using everyday language.

The Regulation Encyclopedia can be searched in two ways: 'natural language search,' which enables searching regulatory laws using everyday language, and 'step-by-step thematic exploration,' which facilitates exploration by industry and technology fields.

In the existing search methods, users had to know the exact legal terms to search regulatory laws, and it was difficult to search for newly emerging terms. The natural language search method allows searching regulatory laws using everyday language based on a thesaurus that connects everyday terms with legal terminology.

The step-by-step thematic exploration is structured based on the SME Technology Roadmap, which systematically covers and classifies new industries, allowing users to check regulatory laws by their interested industry or technology field.

The Regulation Encyclopedia is accessible to anyone through the Regulatory Free Zone website (http://rfz.go.kr). During the first half of the year, it will be operated on a trial basis, actively collecting feedback through user companies and university student experience groups to enhance the thesaurus data and expand the search scope to include administrative rules such as directives, regulations, and notices.

In addition to the Regulation Encyclopedia, the Ministry plans to open the 'Regulatory Free Zone Library' within this year by building a data dam that publicly shares data and demonstration results from zones where verification is completed, enabling participation and utilization by the public and companies.

Minister Kwon Chil-seung of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups said, "User convenience has greatly improved, allowing the public and companies to search regulatory laws more easily and quickly," adding, "It will also help eliminate regulatory uncertainty by enabling prospective entrepreneurs to quickly check relevant regulatory laws when starting a business or when SMEs try to enter new fields."
