[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 26th that it has been selected for the '2021 Small Library Circulating Librarian Support Project' hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Library Culture Promotion Foundation, securing 50 million KRW for project expenses including the salaries of three circulating librarians.
The purpose of this support project is to revitalize small libraries by providing professional operational personnel and to establish a cooperative foundation between regional public libraries and small libraries.
One circulating librarian visits three small libraries based on a public library, transferring collection management skills and supporting the planning and operation of reading culture programs.
With the selection for this support project, nine small libraries including the Gureumdari Small Library will receive support from circulating librarians.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, "We will strengthen the self-sustainability of small libraries and create an opportunity for public libraries and small libraries to develop together."
