Practicing Home Repair Volunteer Work through Donations from Out-of-Town Alumni
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Beolgyo-eup Administrative Welfare Center in Boseong-gun announced on the 26th that it has completed the Love House Repair project to improve the residential environment in welfare blind spots.
The target household was discovered through neighbors' concern and was in a very high-risk situation for fire due to roof leaks and electrical shorts.
Beolgyo-eup carried out not only roof repairs but also interior repairs such as wallpapering to ensure a safe living environment.
This house repair was funded by a donation of 10 million KRW from CEO Yoo Jae-seok of Maru Frontier Co., Ltd., a native who moved away, through a designated contribution to the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, and was used to cover repair costs and living expenses for 25 underprivileged households (100,000 KRW per household).
Seon Nam-gyu, mayor of Beolgyo-eup, who visited the repair site, said, “Although help from the government, local authorities, and private sectors is necessary, we will actively work to continuously discover welfare marginalized groups outside the system who do not receive support and ensure they receive the necessary assistance.”
Meanwhile, the Beolgyo-eup Customized Welfare Team plans to focus on identifying emergency crisis households, anticipating an increase in families in welfare blind spots due to COVID-19.
