[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 26th that it will promote the 'Travel Business Revival Hope Project' targeting travel agencies in the province facing the worst situation due to the prolonged tourism recession, together with 23 cities and counties.

The support targets are 400 travel agencies registered in cities and counties within the province as of the announcement date. Among the 845 travel agencies as of the end of 2020, those engaged in both domestic and international travel businesses, and those receiving support through chartered buses are excluded.

The support amount per agency is 1 million KRW. It can be used for marketing expenses such as product planning and promotion, or general administrative expenses necessary to maintain operations.

However, priority support will be given to agencies whose sales in 2020 decreased by 20% or more compared to 2019. Agencies newly registered after 2020 will be supported depending on future budget conditions.

Travel agencies wishing to receive support must apply to the tourism department of the city or county with jurisdiction over the agency's location by March 10, submitting sales-related proof documents and a travel business operation plan. Detailed information can be found on the Gyeongsangbuk-do website and the respective city and county websites.
