Daewoo Construction Develops 'SAM', a Drawing-Based Information Sharing and Collaboration Platform

Daewoo Construction Develops 'SAM', a Drawing-Based Information Sharing and Collaboration Platform Daewoo E&C announced on the 25th that it has developed SAM (Site Camera), a drawing-based information sharing and collaboration platform, to create an efficient work and collaboration environment at construction sites in the non-face-to-face era.

Daewoo E&C announced on the 25th that it has developed 'SAM (Site Camera)', a drawing-based information sharing and collaboration platform to create an efficient work and collaboration environment at construction sites in the non-face-to-face era.

SAM is a platform created by linking site drawings, documents, and photos based on location to efficiently manage drawings and various information at construction sites. Utilizing the Global Positioning System (GPS), users can immediately view drawings around their current location and quickly search all site drawings in real time from any device.

SAM automatically recognizes the location of site staff, and when taking photos, making notes, or recording audio, the information is automatically saved at the corresponding drawing location. Additionally, with the drawing revision function, the latest drawings are always maintained, and sub-drawings such as detailed drawings and reference drawings are linked within the drawings, allowing necessary information to be checked in real time without location restrictions.

SAM provides rapid collaboration functions in the non-face-to-face era, which has become commonplace due to COVID-19. Using the platform, site managers can quickly share site conditions with head office engineers or related external companies who find it difficult to visit the site.

Previously, there were many administrative tasks such as attaching photos, drawings, and documents separately to emails, but from now on, selecting the photos to be shared will also share the related drawings and the location of the photos together.

SAM offers a web page synchronized in real time with the mobile application, enabling users at the site and office to view all drawings and use various convenient features such as related photos and notes, which is expected to improve work efficiency and assist in construction management.

A Daewoo E&C official stated, "We plan to develop SAM to be linked with the BIM (Building Information Modeling ? the process of modeling an object containing information in a virtual space from planning, design, construction to maintenance and utilizing it) system for use in process management," adding, "By integrating technologies such as 3D modeling viewers and real-time streaming, we aim to enable clear understanding of site conditions even in a non-face-to-face work environment."
