[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] A former child actor turned equestrian athlete was arrested by the police on charges of threatening to distribute nude photos of an ex-lover.
The Bucheon Ojeong Police Station in Gyeonggi Province detained the equestrian athlete A (28) on the 24th on seven charges including threats using filmed materials under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
Judge Cho Hee-chan, in charge of warrants at the Bucheon branch of the Incheon District Court, conducted a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant review) of A in the morning and issued an arrest warrant, stating, "There is sufficient evidence for the main criminal charges," and "The crime is serious, the nature of the offense is bad, and there is a risk of flight." A faces a total of seven charges including threats, attempted extortion, fraud, and habitual gambling.
After the warrant review, as A was leaving the courtroom, he was asked by reporters, "Do you admit to filming the body without the (victim's) consent?" but he did not respond. He also did not answer repeated questions such as "Is it true that you demanded 100 million won per (nude) photo? Do you have anything to say to the victim?"
A is accused of repeatedly threatening his ex-lover B from December last year until last month by threatening to distribute nude photos and videos taken in the past.
It is known that he secretly filmed B’s nude body on his mobile phone during a brief extramarital relationship in July last year.
In a complaint previously submitted to the police, B claimed, "A threatened me, demanding 100 million won per (nude) video," and "He came near my house, honked his car horn, and sent threatening text messages mentioning my family."
B also stated that from July to the end of December last year, A borrowed about 140 million won under the pretexts of purchase costs, feed expenses, and traffic accident settlement money but did not repay and embezzled it.
Meanwhile, A is reported to have been active as a child actor in the past and later became an equestrian athlete, representing the national team in international competitions such as the Asian Games.
