Jung Se-kyun: "Carbon Materials Are the 'Rice' of Future Advanced Industries... [Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun stated on the 24th, "Carbon materials are the rice of future advanced industries and the driving force for a new 100 years leading the future of the Republic of Korea."


At the opening ceremony of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, Prime Minister Chung said in his congratulatory speech, "We will make the carbon materials industry a national strategic project that goes beyond a regionally specialized industry." The Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency is an institution established to support the development of the carbon materials convergence and fusion industry. It will focus on building an industrial foundation, supporting startups and research and development of companies, and fostering specialized personnel.


Regarding the launch of the 'Carbon Convergence Industry Alliance,' which includes companies related to carbon materials and affiliated organizations, Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "If demand and supply companies and central and local governments unite and cooperate, the Republic of Korea will lead a new era."


Prime Minister Chung then visited Hyosung Advanced Materials' Jeonju plant, where he received explanations about carbon fiber products and equipment from Hyosung Group Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang and others, and toured the factory. Hyosung plans to invest a total of 1 trillion won in the Jeonju plant to increase carbon fiber production capacity. According to the Prime Minister's Office, this is expected to create approximately 2,300 jobs and generate a production inducement effect worth 2.15 trillion won.
