[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Hanwha Systems announced on the 24th that it has signed a business agreement with carbon material demand and supply companies to secure core technologies, commercialize technologies, and build an industrial ecosystem.

Hanwha Systems participated in the launch ceremony of the 'Carbon Material Convergence Industry Alliance' held at the opening ceremony of the Korea Carbon Industry Promotion Agency. This alliance, formed for carbon material industry cooperation in the future urban air vehicle (PAV) sector, includes 11 related organizations such as Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Solutions, Korean Air, and Hyosung Advanced Materials, which are carbon material demand and supply companies.

Hanwha Systems entered the urban air mobility (UAM) market, represented by the 'air taxi,' in 2019 and is promoting the development of the electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft 'Butterfly' in collaboration with the U.S. company Overair. The company is focusing on carbon materials to achieve aircraft weight reduction and ensure safety.

To localize carbon materials suitable for PAVs, Hanwha Systems plans to present practical requirements and provide consulting to support the production of products that meet standards. Additionally, it will actively engage in product commercialization and participate in the co-growth of demand and supply companies as well as the cultivation of the carbon material convergence industry ecosystem.

Kim Yeon-cheol, CEO of Hanwha Systems, stated, "The carbon industry will be a core industry leading the Korean New Deal policy in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. We will strive to apply carbon materials to future urban air vehicles, participate in fostering the carbon industry ecosystem, and create an eco-friendly urban air mobility industrial environment."
