[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Solutions Chemical Division announced on the 24th that its Yeosu Plant received the Grand Prize at the '2020 Yeosu Industrial Complex Safety Management Excellence Workplace Evaluation' hosted by Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do.
In this evaluation targeting 55 workplaces in the Yeosu Industrial Complex, the Yeosu City Public Deliberation Committee selected a total of four companies based on criteria such as maintaining accident-free workplaces, activities to prevent major industrial accidents, and facility investment performance. Among them, Hanwha Solutions Yeosu Plant was selected as the top workplace and awarded the Grand Prize.
Hanwha Solutions Yeosu Plant was recognized for the advancement of process safety management and safety management systems (PMS·SMS), as well as expanded facility investments such as gas detectors and fire extinguishing equipment.
In particular, it received high marks for significantly strengthening accident prevention activities for subcontractor employees by jointly inspecting safety management plans for hazardous work with subcontractors and supporting fire and explosion prevention equipment.
The Chemical Division also receives safety leadership consulting from 'Fidelity Solution,' a behavioral science consulting firm, to realize continuous accident-free workplaces. This aims to systematically manage not only improvements in safety-related facilities and systems but also the prevention of safety accidents caused by human factors in advance.
During the two-year consulting period, all employees of the Chemical Division will review the existing safety management manuals. Additionally, they will introduce systems and cultures segmented by rank and job to minimize human accidents that may occur at each workplace.
Lee Gu-young, CEO of Hanwha Solutions, said, "Thorough safety management is possible only when a systematic preventive system and employees' safety awareness work together," adding, "We will do our best to establish the highest level of environmental safety that meets global standards."
