[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 24th that COVID-19 vaccination will begin at 9 a.m. on the 26th.

The vaccination targets are 17,326 people under the age of 65, including inpatients, residents, and workers at 412 facilities, such as 79 nursing hospitals and 333 nursing facilities.

The city previously surveyed 18,280 people under 65 at nursing hospitals and facilities, who are the targets of this vaccination, regarding their consent to vaccination, and 94.8% (17,326 people) agreed.

The AstraZeneca vaccine to be used for this vaccination will be sequentially delivered by distributors to 89 medical institutions, including health centers in 10 districts/counties, in four phases from the 25th to the 28th of this month. A total of vaccines and syringes for 21,800 people will be supplied.

Vaccinations will be conducted twice: the first round from February 26 to March 31, and the second round from April 23 to May 31.

Nursing hospitals and facilities with their own medical staff will conduct vaccinations independently, and mobile eligible individuals such as workers will visit health centers to receive vaccinations. Facilities where independent vaccination is difficult will be visited by vaccination teams from the local health centers for vaccination.

Additionally, vaccination centers equipped with ultra-low temperature freezers capable of administering the mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) Pfizer vaccine will begin operation starting with Seonhak Stadium in Yeonsu-gu in March, with three more centers added in April to May, and seven more in the second half of the year, totaling 11 centers.

Incheon City and each district/county operate the 'COVID-19 Vaccine Vaccination Promotion and Support Team' to ensure smooth and stable vaccination progress.

They also plan to operate a regional consultative body for private advisory committee members prepared for adverse reactions, vaccine-related consultations, and on-site support.
