Changwon-si Supports Reduction of Emissions from Old Diesel Vehicles ... Emission Reduction Devices and Engine Replacement

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced that it will implement a support project to reduce emissions from old vehicles, such as attaching Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) to diesel vehicles, starting from the 24th.

The vehicle emission reduction device (DPF) attachment project is available to owners of Grade 5 emission vehicles registered in Changwon City.

The PM and NOx reduction device attachment project targets diesel vehicles registered between 2002 and 2007 with engine displacements ranging from 5,800 to 170,000 cc and power outputs between 240 and 460 PS.

The construction machinery engine replacement project is open to owners of forklifts and excavators registered in Changwon City equipped with Tier-1 or lower engines.

Vehicle owners wishing to apply for this support project must sign up as members and apply through the vehicle emission grade system website by March 12.

The support includes covering approximately 90% of the cost of the vehicle emission reduction device (DPF), and full coverage of engine replacement costs for construction machinery without any personal expense.

Vehicles equipped with emission reduction devices are exempt from detailed emission inspections for three years.

Environmental improvement charges are also waived for three years; however, if the vehicle is scrapped or deregistered during the mandatory two-year operation period, the subsidy may be reclaimed.
