The PGA of America, which organizes the tournament, announced on the 24th (Korean time) that "the PGA Championship will also allow a limited number of spectators due to COVID-19," specifying "around 10,000 people." They explained that this decision was made "after discussions with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and South Carolina state authorities." Following the Masters in April, this is the second major of 2021, opening on the night of May 20 at the Ocean Course of Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina, USA.

Last year, the originally scheduled May event was postponed by three months and held without spectators in August at Harding Park in San Francisco, California, USA, where Collin Morikawa (USA) secured a two-stroke victory (13-under 267). Tickets for this year have already sold out. The organizers stated, "We will allocate tickets considering various factors such as the time of purchase," adding, "All gallery attendees, staff, and volunteers will be required to wear masks and participate in social distancing."
