Seven Eleven Employees Conduct 'Love Blood Donation Campaign' to Overcome COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Seven Eleven has stepped up to help address the blood shortage crisis caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. Convenience store chain Seven Eleven announced on the 23rd that it conducted a 'Love Blood Donation Campaign' targeting its employees in collaboration with the Korean Red Cross.

One of Seven Eleven's representative social contribution activities, the employee blood donation campaign, has been steadily held for 14 years since it first started in 2008. This year, the campaign was organized with added significance to participate in resolving the blood supply shortage and to practice sharing life, following a sharp decline in blood donors last year due to COVID-19.

The blood donation campaign was held over two days, from the 22nd to the 23rd, in front of Seven Eleven’s headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, with about 30 employees voluntarily participating. Starting from the Seoul headquarters, branches and development offices nationwide are also participating in the blood donation sharing campaign through local blood donation centers. The blood donation certificates collected through the campaign will be donated to the Korean Red Cross and used to support the treatment of patients urgently in need of blood supply.

Seven Eleven explained that to prevent COVID-19 infection among blood donation participants, the number of people boarding the blood donation bus was separated by time slots to minimize waiting times, and the campaign was conducted strictly following quarantine guidelines such as maintaining distance between waiting participants, wearing masks, and measuring body temperature.

On this day, Park Daesung, Senior MD of the Seven Eleven Food Team, who received the Silver Medal for Blood Donation Merit from the Korean Red Cross, said, "The blood donation I started to help someone has already exceeded 30 times," adding, "Since our small sharing can save precious neighbors' lives, I will continue to participate in blood donation steadily."

Seon Sinjeong, Head of Social Contribution at Seven Eleven, said, "Due to the significant decrease in blood donors last year caused by COVID-19, the blood shortage crisis continues," adding, "We hope this campaign will be of practical help in stabilizing blood supply, and we will continue to seek various activities for our neighbors around us."
