Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group Completes 'AI·SW Coding Education Program'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The SW-Centered University Project Group at Chosun University announced on the 22nd that it held a winter vacation AI·SW program at the Iyagikkot Library in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju from the 15th to the 19th, receiving great response.

The Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group signed a 'Business Agreement for AI·SW Education' with the Iyagikkot Library under Gwangsan-gu on the 9th.

Since last year, the two organizations have been leading the spread of AI·SW values to local residents by operating AI·SW education programs to establish a mutual cooperation system and enhance future core competencies.

This winter vacation AI·SW program was conducted by Professor Jo Young-joo, in charge of the SW-Centered University Project Group, along with Professor Lee Kwang-ok and Assistant Seo Hee-cheol. From the 15th to 16th, they held the 'Soft and Fun AI·SW Coding Program' for elementary school students, and from the 16th to 19th, the 'AI·SW Convergence Youth Coding Class' program for teenagers.

Professor Jo Young-joo said, "This program was conducted to provide equal educational opportunities so that current elementary and middle school students living in the AI era with AI robots are not excluded from AI·SW education, and to encourage early discovery of talented students to grow into customized talents."

Participating elementary school students said, "I thought artificial intelligence (AI) was a very difficult field, but after attending the classes in this winter vacation program, it was fun. Coding for robot racing was also very enjoyable."

Middle school students also said, "I was worried because the program was fully booked within one minute of the application opening, but fortunately, I was able to apply, which was lucky," and added, "The AI machine learning practice, which we could not easily learn at school, was interesting, and I want to participate in the next program as well."

The person in charge at the Iyagikkot Library in Gwangsan-gu said, "We are grateful to the Chosun University SW-Centered University Project Group and Professor Jo Young-joo for conducting customized AI·SW education, and we hope to continue holding AI·SW education-related programs with the SW-Centered University Project Group in the future."
