[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The Action Alliance for Establishing the Rule of Law (Beopse-ryeon) filed a complaint with the prosecution on the 22nd, accusing Minister of Justice Park Beom-gye of abuse of authority over allegations that he announced a prosecution personnel plan without receiving approval from President Moon Jae-in.

On the same day, Beopse-ryeon held a press conference in front of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, announcing that they would criminally accuse Minister Park of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights.

Beopse-ryeon stated, "Minister Park announced the personnel plan unexpectedly on the afternoon of Sunday the 7th, an unprecedented move, and it is said that he announced the personnel plan without receiving formal approval from President Moon regarding the appointment of senior prosecution officials," adding, "This is an illegal personnel announcement made without following due process, infringing on the president's personnel authority and obstructing the exercise of rights."

They continued, "Prosecutor General Yoon reportedly demanded the replacement of figures under investigation, such as Lee Seong-yoon, Chief of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, and Shim Jae-cheol, Director of the Prosecution Bureau at the Ministry of Justice, who are considered incapable of fair investigation due to covering up regime corruption for the ruling party, during a meeting to discuss prosecution personnel with Minister Park," and added, "Minister Park announced an arbitrary personnel plan without reflecting Prosecutor General Yoon's opinions at all."

Beopse-ryeon also said, "The minister's unilateral announcement of the personnel plan without the president's approval deceived the public and constitutes an unprecedentedly serious state mismanagement and clear abuse of authority," adding, "Retaining Chief Lee, who is serving as a servant of the current regime, means privatizing the prosecution to openly cover up regime corruption, which mocks the people and is a tyranny that destroys democracy and the rule of law."
