[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The Democratic Party of Korea expressed regret toward the People Power Party, which criticized President Moon Jae-in's mention of ‘considering support payments to comfort the people.’ They stated that the opposition is responding with mocking and childish criticism to efforts aimed at hastening the recovery of ordinary daily life.
Shin Young-dae, spokesperson for the Democratic Party, said on the 21st, "We deeply regret the political level of the People Power Party, which mocks and belittles the government's efforts to alleviate the people's suffering."
Spokesperson Shin introduced, "Regarding President Moon's mention of ‘considering support payments to comfort the people’ based on the premise of overcoming COVID-19, the People Power Party has been pouring out criticisms such as vote-buying, ‘pay it from personal assets,’ and calling the president ‘worse than a Ministry of Economy and Finance official,’ as if they had long given up on the dignity of the main opposition party."
He pointed out, "The People Power Party surely knows that President Moon Jae-in's mention of considering support payments to comfort the people was a statement aimed at accelerating the end of COVID-19 and the recovery of ordinary daily life ahead of vaccination. I want to ask whether the People Power Party members’ consistent mocking and childish criticism is not a disgraceful political act ahead of the election."
Spokesperson Shin appealed, "The People Power Party should exercise restraint so that the people's hearts are not hurt and the nation's dignity is not damaged by their provocative and low-level remarks."
