11,387 Graduates... Retention Employment Rate 90.1%

#Siblings Bang Seonnam and Yoo Jin, who are enrolled at the 2-year Korea Polytechnics Bio Campus, simultaneously passed the Samsung Biologics industry-academia internship recruitment. Seonnam secured a full-time position, and Yoo Jin is also knocking on the door of a biopharmaceutical company.
#Kim Jaeyoung was pursuing a PhD in Technology Management at Konkuk University Graduate School but discontinued it and enrolled in the Smart Finance Department at Korea Polytechnics Seoul Gangseo Campus. After learning the latest industrial technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, he joined the big data management company Datastreams before graduating in October last year.
Korea Polytechnics announced on the 19th that degree conferment (completion) ceremonies were held at 34 campuses nationwide. The graduates totaled 11,387, including 7,301 in degree programs, 3,295 in specialized technical programs, 617 in high-tech programs, and 174 in master craftsman programs.
The employment rate was relatively high among those who completed the high-tech programs. The Smart Logistics Department at Yeongnam Convergence Technology Campus had 100%, the Smart Factory Department at Incheon Campus had 94.7%, and the Data Analysis Department at Gwangmyeong Convergence Technology Institute had 94.4% employment rates, respectively.
According to the '2019 Higher Education Institution Graduation Statistics Survey' announced by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Educational Development Institute in December last year, Korea Polytechnics recorded an employment rate of 80.3%, higher than the 70.9% of junior colleges. The first retention employment rate was 90.1%.
The average employment rate over the past nine years has been 80.2%, maintaining a record about 10% higher than junior colleges every year.
Lee Seokhaeng, Chairman of Korea Polytechnics, encouraged, "I am confident that graduates who have honed foundational and advanced technologies without wavering amid the COVID-19 crisis will become a new driving force leading the industrial economy of Technology Korea."
