Equipped with Both Collision and Driving Safety Features
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Amid the continuing popularity of compact sport utility vehicles (SUVs), the Chevrolet Trailblazer, which promotes itself as an authentic SUV, has maintained steady sales performance.
According to Korea GM on the 19th, the Trailblazer sold a total of 1,189 units in January, surpassing its competitor, Renault Samsung Motors' XM3, for two consecutive months. Initially launched as an export strategic model with a focus on export volume allocation, the Trailblazer has become a leading model in the domestic compact SUV segment as its domestic sales increased.
Unlike other crossover utility vehicles (CUVs) leading the compact SUV market, the Trailblazer features four-wheel drive (4WD) and a high-strength body. At launch, to enable off-road driving capability, the Trailblazer applied high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel sheets to 78% of the body, including 22% of POSCO's Giga Steel. The company explains that this ensures both collision safety and driving safety.
The engine is also equipped with a turbo engine that delivers explosive power suitable for an SUV. The 1.35ℓ E-Turbo engine, utilizing General Motors (GM)'s advanced light-sizing turbo technology, produces a maximum output of 156 horsepower and a peak torque of 24.1 kg·m.
Meanwhile, Chevrolet is offering promotions in February including a 500,000 KRW discount, a 4.5% interest rate combo installment plan over 72 months, or a 2.9% ultra-long 72-month installment plan, as well as a super low-interest 36-month installment plan. Customers owning vehicles older than 7 years are also eligible for a 200,000 KRW discount. The Trailblazer prices after applying the individual consumption tax reduction are LS 19,590,000 KRW, LT 21,850,000 KRW, ACTIV 25,230,000 KRW, and RS 25,730,000 KRW.
