Tense Atmosphere... Why Did Baek Jong-won Grab a Contestant by the Collar?

Tense Atmosphere... Why Did Baek Jong-won Grab a Contestant by the Collar? Photo by SBS, capture from 'Baek Jong-won's Alley Restaurant'

[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] The reason why Baek Jong-won grabbed a contestant by the collar, revealed in the preview at the end of last week's 'Golmok Sikdang' episode.

In the SBS show 'Baek Jong-won's Golmok Sikdang' aired on the 17th, Baek Jong-won visited a salmon shrimp rice bowl restaurant located in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu.

On that day, Baek Jong-won, who tasted the food with Jung In-sun, was shocked by the restaurant's hygiene conditions, including walls and cooking utensils splattered with food, rotten wooden boards, and hidden dust pits. Calling the owner, Baek expressed frustration, saying, "If you knew and didn't do it, I would be angry, but it seems you don't know at all." After confirming the owner's willingness, he gave the mission to thoroughly clean the restaurant within a week.

However, when Baek unexpectedly came to recheck the cleaning status, he was greatly shocked to see no progress and spider webs remaining on the ceiling.

Baek Jong-won said, "If the owner has no will to do it, why would I grab him by the collar? It looks like that so far. Even I feel the owner has no will, but Baek Jong-won is the one grabbing him by the collar," showing a gesture of grabbing the collar, creating a tense atmosphere.

Despite such criticism, when the owner said, "I'm working hard," Baek Jong-won angrily responded, "Even as a viewer, I would be dissatisfied. At least there should be some will, right?" Baek questioned, "Some people might be lucky to appear on 'Golmok Sikdang' and think, 'Even without much will, they get to be on TV and get free promotion.' Where is the fairness in that?"

Baek Jong-won seriously said, "No matter the broadcast, I have to give up on some things. It's okay not to know. But people without passion are not acceptable. People without will should not do it. Owner, you really have four weeks left, and you can give up within that time."
