[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Mokpo City will reopen the Mokpo Indoor Swimming Pool, which had been closed due to COVID-19, starting from the 19th.

According to Mokpo City on the 18th, with social distancing eased to level 1.5, the city plans to operate the Mokpo Indoor Swimming Pool while strictly adhering to quarantine guidelines.

To this end, users must comply with rules such as maintaining a minimum distance of 2 meters inside the swimming pool (including underwater), refraining from physical contact and conversations between users, keeping distance in the shower and changing rooms, and minimizing the time spent there.

The city will block entry of symptomatic individuals through temperature checks and manage entrants by recording visitor information. Additionally, for pool disinfection, from 12 PM to 1 PM, there will be a one-hour period for sterilization, ventilation, and water purification.

The indoor swimming pool shuttle bus will not operate due to difficulty in maintaining distancing, and whether it will run in the future will be announced depending on the COVID-19 situation.

In particular, swimming lessons will not be held because social distancing is difficult due to physical contact and conversations between instructors and students; only individual free swimming will be allowed, and no lesson members will be recruited.

A city official said, “We ask for the understanding of citizens regarding the phased operation of the indoor swimming pool in response to the COVID-19 situation.”
