'2-Week Maintenance' Daily Confirmed Cases: 15 on the 16th, 23 on the 17th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] In Gyeongsangbuk-do, where the daily number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) had remained in single digits for two weeks, the numbers have surged again to double digits and twenties for two consecutive days.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 18th, as of midnight that day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area was 3,100 (including 48 imported cases), an increase of 23 cases (including 1 imported case) from the previous day.
New confirmed cases by region were 13 in Gyeongsan City, 5 in Uiseong County, 2 in Gunwi County, and 1 each in Andong City, Gumi City, and Uljin County.
In Gyeongsan City, a COVID-19 cluster infection occurred at a local daycare center. On the 17th, 4 daycare teachers and 5 children, along with the husband and 4 family members of a teacher who tested positive the previous day, were confirmed positive, totaling 13 cases.
Confirmed cases related to this daycare center were also identified in Andong City on the same day. Therefore, the total number of confirmed cases related to this daycare center is 14. The health authorities are conducting comprehensive testing on 200 close contacts and are awaiting the results.
In Uiseong County, among the 5 new confirmed cases, 3 tested positive during the comprehensive testing at 'T Oncheon' in Uiseong, related to Gunwi case number 13 confirmed on the 15th. The other 2 are contacts of Ulsan case number 970 confirmed on the 15th.
The 2 new confirmed cases in Gunwi County were also confirmed positive during the comprehensive testing at 'T Oncheon' in Uiseong related to Gunwi case number 13 confirmed on the 15th. Therefore, the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to Uiseong 'T Oncheon' has increased to 6.
The new confirmed case in Andong City is a contact of a Gyeongsan daycare center case (Gyeongsan case number 904), and the new confirmed case in Gumi City is a contact of Gimhae, Gyeongnam case number 252 confirmed on the 15th. The new confirmed case in Uljin County is an imported case.
Since February, the daily number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area has been: 10 on the 1st, 12 (including 2 imported) on the 2nd, 6 on the 3rd, 7 (including 1 imported) on the 4th, 7 (including 3 imported) on the 5th, 1 on the 6th, 6 (including 1 imported) on the 7th, 5 (including 1 imported) on the 8th, 2 on the 9th, 1 on the 10th, 4 on the 11th, 5 (including 1 imported) on the 12th, 5 (including 1 imported) on the 13th, 8 on the 14th, 3 (including 1 imported) on the 15th, and 15 (including 1 imported) on the 16th.
After two weeks of single-digit cases following the 3rd, the numbers jumped back to double digits for two consecutive days on the 16th and 17th, raising concerns about a potential resurgence.
